"All in the Timing," by playwright David Ives. This comedy wraps David Ives' love of playing on words and existential perspectives on life into a witty production sure to make the entire audience laugh. It is a collection of comedic and thought provoking one acts that explore random topics such as monkeys trying to rewrite Shakespeare, cafe patrons finding themselves in alternate realities, and an average New Yorker deciding to be a French impressionist painter for a day.
"Sure Thing," in which two strangers meet in a coffee shop by chance; fate does everything it can to ensure they wind up together.
"Words, Words, Words," in which three chimpanzees wreak havoc and ponder their existence while trapped in a laboratory room with three typewriters to see how long it takes at least one of them to write "Hamlet."
"The Universal Language," in which a conman attempting to make money by teaching a language mostly comprised of gibberish is thrown off by a new student who picks it up much too quickly.
"Variations on the Death of Trotsky," in which Leo Trotsky, the
famous Russian political figure, dies repeatedly in the presence of his wife at the pickaxe-wielding hands of their Mexican gardener.
"The Philadelphia," in which two best friends meet for lunch; one is having the worst day ever while the other is experiencing the opposite. A snarky server is less than helpful.
"Philip Glass Buys a Loaf Of Bread," a parodic musical vignette in trademark Glassian style, with the celebrated composer having a moment of existential crisis in a bakery.
