"Treat yourself, your children, and grandchildren to a totally beautiful creative experience!" (Ann C. Anderson, Letter to the Editor, Asheville Citizen Times)
Celebrate the holiday season with a limited seating, special performance of The Legend of La Befana by Red Herring Puppets on December 18, 19 and 20 at CATALYST Arts and Maker Space at Tucson Mall. Red Herring Puppets' production of this popular Italian Christmas story captures the mystery and majesty of the Holiday season as it embodies the spirit of goodness and hope. Carefully crafted in a Byzantine style, The Legend of La Befana features over fifty hand, rod and shadow puppets.
La Befana, the beloved female Italian gift-giver witnesses a spectacle of stars and a procession of animals followed by a visit from three Magi. Inspired, Befana leaves her home in search of a magical child. It is the Year One. She encounters a Celtic bard, an Egyptian priestess, a Buddhist monk, a Chinese merchant, and Mayan Indians building a temple. Weary from her travels and unable to find the child she seeks, Befana is awakened by an angel. She overcomes her despair recognizing the beauty in all children and shares her gifts with the world.
