Welcome to TCAF6

Whew, what a year and couple of weeks it has been.  It's time to kick off Tucson's biggest comedy party this year in a Digital Edition.  We are excited to bring great comedy content to our community featuring members of the TIM performing company, our 300th Soap Box Show, Stand Up Comedy, and acts from around the state and the country!  While the event is a little smaller this year, we wanted to keep our comedy fun alive even if we are in the midst of a pandemic.  We are so excited to continue our connections with our friends at Unscrewed Theater, The Torch Theater in Phoenix and our funny friends up in Flag along with other former TCAF performers from California and beyond.

So strap on your safety belts, keep your hands and feet inside your comedic vehicle at all times, and join us on the TIM Facebook Page for three days of improv and stand up comedy!

The Improvathon - Thursday, November 12th 7-9pm

It has been tough being closed for the past 9 months.  We are looking at TCAF as a way to raise funds to support Tucson Improv Movement in keeping our theater on 4th Avenue through and after this pandemic over.  On Thursday night we have two straight hours of improv comedy from our company members.  This show will be telethon style and we are hoping to raise funds through two different processes.

TCAF Pledges - Head over to our website and make a pledge in any amount.  All of the funds  will go towards paying rent and bills until we can open in a more formal and safe way.  All of our TCAF shows are free, so a pledge is a virtual way to buy a ticket to our shows.  We suggest $5 or $10, but will take whatever the spirit moves you to give.

The TIM Store - Head over to our website and shop all of our great new merch.  Show off your TIM pride by sporting our logo on your apparel.  We have two special limited time items for TCAF the annual TCAF shirt and a brand new Yes And shirt.  Get some merch at our BRAND NEW STORE and keep TIM chugging along!

The 300th Soap Box Show - 7:00pm - Our flagship show The Soap Box invites local guests to come and tell stories to inspire our improv.  Our first show was on September 12th 2013 with Dan Gibson, now with Visit Tucson.  Our last live show was on March 6th 2020 with the newly elected Pima County Attorney Laura Conover.  We bring both of those guests back and all of our former cast members who have spread out across the country for a fun celebration of seven years of storytelling and comedy!

Beginners and Veterans Stand Up Comedy - 8:30pm - We salute the TIM Comedy Theater and all of the students we have taught improv, sketch and stand up comedy in our long running Beginners and Veteran's Stand Up Comedy Show.  The show will feature some of our stand up teachers, Arizona comedy veterans, and some of our students.  Enjoy a fun night of stand up comedy!

Register for the Festival Workshop!

TCAF is about learning and growing your comedic knowledge and performance ability, so we hope you join the  2020 TCAF Digital Edition Workshop.  We are excited to continue that tradition of excellence this year, while bringing in Diana Brown and Dan Wilson to teach at the fest.

Improv Triage: a treatment lab for your improv challenges
With: Diana Brown & Dan Wilson of Bingewatch
Sunday, November 15th
10:00am-12:30pm

The instructors will create/curate exercises on the spot to address whatever is challenging the improvisor in the moment!  This fun and focused lab will expand your confidence and creativity and help you make more intentional choices through:

  • Help you respond to your scene-partner in a deeply visceral and truthful way.
  • Explore where your current choices lead you and help you make choices that are even more satisfying to play out.
  • Deepen your trust in your own instincts.
