We are less than one week away from the start of our 36th Annual Summer Dance Workshop June 1st-26th! We are thrilled to be kicking things off with Special Guest Teacher Matthew Renko for week one of our four week program. Get to know Mr. Renko in the videos linked below! This two part Zoom interview was conducted by fellow guest instructor (and Ballet Tucson Artistic Associate and Media Director) Margaret Mullin. About Matthew Renko:
Matthew Renko was born in Tampa, Florida and raised in Sumter, South Carolina, where he began dancing at the age of 8. As a teenager he trained at North Carolina School of the Arts and then The School of American Ballet in New York City. He began his professional career in 2007, joining the New York City Ballet as an apprentice and then joining the corps de ballet in 2008. He went on to join the Suzanne Farrell Ballet in 2010, where he was promoted to soloist in 2013. Simultaneously he was a member of the Pacific Northwest Ballet (joining in 2011), where he was promoted to soloist in 2016. He has performed a wide range of leading roles in a variety of repertoire including George Balanchine's The Nutcracker, La Source, Le Baiser de la Fée and Rubies, Jerome Robbins' Watermill and Fancy Free and Molissa Fenley's State of Darkness. Matthew's choreographic credits include participating in SAB's Student Choreography Workshop, The New York Choreographic Institute, and PNB's Next Step program. He has been a member of Ballet Chicago's summer faculty since 2011 and winter faculty since 2018.
We are proud to bring the best of ballet to our Tucson community and we are currently seeking male and female apprentices and company dancers for our 2021-2022 season. An in-person open audition will be held at the Ballet Tucson studios on Sunday June 20th:
Pre-registration is mandatory to attend

- Indicate your intent to attend the live Ballet Tucson audition on June 20th
Two sessions will be offered and they are limited to 10 dancers per group (subject to change based on evolving public health mandates
- Group 1: 12pm-2pm
- Group 2: 3:30pm-5:30pm
- NOTE: Group 1 slots will be filled first, then Group 2; you'll be notified after sending in your pre-registration email which group you've been assigned
