Troubadour Theatre is looking for a musical theatre class instructor for our Spring classes.   This is an independent contractor position, and applicant must be able to prep and teach the class independently.  Time/dates for class are flexible depending on instructor availability. (Typically either late afternoon on a weekday or weekend morning or early afternoon).  Session can be 4-8 weeks long depending on instructor's availability.  Class is generally open to ages 10-18. 

 

We are looking for another instructor because our usual music director is not available to teach this spring, but will be returning for our summer camp this year, but this position is still potentially ongoing for future classes outside of our summer camp.  

 

This is a smaller class, with typically 4-8 students each session, with most being ages 11-14.  Our typical format for the class is: Students choose songs from stage or screen musicals to perform for a song showcase to conclude the session.  Generally, students have a solo song each, and one or two larger group songs.  We typically perform this in a recital format (songs only, no set or costumes). Students learn a group song the first week of class, and then choose solo songs to practice starting the next week leading up to the performance.   

 

Requirements:

Has professional experience teaching kids and/or teens (not necessarily teaching musical theatre specifically) and be able to provide references.

Must be a trained singer and have experience giving vocal lessons

Must be able to play own piano accompaniment (keyboard is provided, or you can bring your own) 

Should have own access to sheet music to be able to provide what is needed for students. 

Must have or be eligible to get a fingerprint clearance card 

 

Pay depends on experience with minimum at $22 an hour (more depending on experience).  Paid as independent contractor.  Class is in our studio space on Grant near Country Club.
