Old Tucson seeking Make-Up Artist for NIGHTFALL event

Job Title: Make-up Artist

Division/Department: Old Tucson Entertainment (OTE)/Crew

Reports To: Technical Supervisor

Type of position: Non-Exempt/Hourly

Employee Classification: Seasonal

Compensation: $18.00 -$23.00/hr.

 

The successful candidate will be working with Old Tucson Entertainment LLC for our NIGHTFALL event. Make-up artists will work with the Hair & Make-up designer and the rest of the production team. They will be responsible for teaching and applying make-up for all performers of Nightfall (Scare actors, stunt performers, lead actors). The makeup artist works closely with the make-up designer and costume designer to apply a look for each performer that will visually support their character and be as time period appropriate as possible.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Familiarize the script, characters, and the time period.
  • Meet with the Hair & Make-up Designer, Production Manager, and venue staff regularly
  • Discuss makeup needs with the Make-Up Designer.
  • Apply make-up to performers by the specifications set forth by the make-up designer.
  • Instruct the performers in methods of achieving the desired effect for each of their characters.
  • Work quickly and efficiently while ensuring the integrity of the make-up designer.
  • Supervise application of makeup during dress rehearsals and event dates.
  • Check make-up during tech/dress rehearsals, conferring with the hair & make-up designer and making changes where needed.

Education, Skill & Work Experience Requirements:

  • Experience as a theatrical hair and make-up design
  • Experience working with prosthetic make up and experience with creating specialized make-up effects
  • Experience with using prosthetics with make-up and with special effects make-up design
  • Ability to work independently with self-motivation and attention to details as well as excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate, recognize and solve practical problems and resolve issues 
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written form
  • Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams that can include seasonal employees and interns
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as production schedules may dictate
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

 

Work Environment:

  • Possible outdoor work environment.
  • Evening, weekend and holiday work (required).
