Winding Road Season Tickets Now on Sale!
From a Tucson tale of scientific intrigue to a reimagining of the classic tale of musical rivalry between Mozart and Salieri, Winding Road returns for our 15th season with two fully staged plays and two staged readings (including one workshop!) !
Biosphere by Steven A. Lyons. Inspired by the dramatic story of Biosphere 2, a controversial experiment conducted north of Tucson in 1992. Four people are sealed in an airtight dome in the desert, where they attempt to create their own self-sustaining environment. Can they survive for two years? First, they survive each other. This Tucson premiere will follow a week-long development workshop. This reading plays Nov 4-5 at Rhythm Industry Performance Factory.
String of Pearls by Michele Lowe. On the eve of her granddaughter Amy's wedding, Beth asks to see the pearls she gave Amy's mother long ago. When Amy cannot produce them, Beth determines to find the pearls. Spanning 35 years, the pearls touch the lives of mothers and daughters, sisters and friends, even husbands and wives as they weave a deeply affecting story of love and loss. While the pearls are stolen, bought, bestowed, unstrung and nearly lost, four actresses play 27 characters in this deeply moving drama that is as fresh as it is funny. Plays Dec 1-9 at the Cabaret Theater!

Amadeus by Peter Shaffer. In the court of the Austrian Emperor Joseph II, Antonio Salieri is the established composer. Enter the greatest musical genius of all time: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Salieri has given himself to God so that he might realize his sole ambition, to be a great composer. Mozart is a foul-mouthed, graceless oaf who has that which is beyond Salieri's envious grasp: Genius. Amadeus premiered at the National Theatre in London in 1979, before transferring to Broadway, where it won the Tony Award for Best Play in 1981. The film version, screenplay also by Peter Shaffer, won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1985. Plays Feb 16-Mar 3 at the Cabaret Theater!
