Subject: "Every time a new work is created, it's keeping the heartbeat of the art form going" ❤️
"Ballet has been around for so long and it's still around is because of innovation. The reason we're still able to showcase the classics and our history is because it's still so alive; we're not trying to speak a dead language. Every time a new work is created, it's keeping the heartbeat of the art form going and bringing in a brand new audience." - Brooke Amundrud, Corps de Ballet dancer and 2025 Steps Forward choreographer
Brooke Amundrud is entering her fourth season as a dancer with Ballet Tucson, and she is also passionate about choreography. She has created a new work for our annual choreographer's showcase (now called Steps Forward) for the past three years, and has placed in the audience selected top three each time, winning in 2022 and 2024. Hear more about her creative process and what our Steps Forward program means to her in this special video (click the link above to watch).

Loved by our artists and audiences alike, Steps Forward is a choreographers' showcase that features eight new works, created by our Ballet Tucson company members for their fellow dancers. At the end of this one-night-only collection of premieres, audience members have the opportunity to vote for their favorite, which will receive an encore presentation on the Ballet Tucson mainstage later in the season. This program offers vital career development and transition support for our dancers, allowing them to explore their creativity and their artistic potential as a choreographer.
