Tucson: Stephen King Movie Premiere at The Fox

APA Sponsors Stephen King Movie Premiere
at Fox Tucson Theatre

Saturday, May 6

Hollywood is coming to Tucson and you can be a part of the event!  Stephen King’s Desperation is scheduled to air nationally on ABC TV, Thursday, May 18, but YOU can get a first look at King’s latest work at the Fox Tucson Theatre in the First Magnus Auditorium on Saturday, May 6, 2006.

The public is invited to attend the movie premiere and the Downtown Saturday celebration on Congress in front of the theatre. Scheduled to walk the red carpet at the Fox are Director Mick Garris; one of the movie’s executive producers, APA member Mark Sennet and several of its actors, including Steven Weber, Annabeth Gish and Ron Perlman. The movie also stars Tom Skerritt, Charles Durning and Henry Thomas.

Desperation, a made-for-television movie, was filmed in and around Tucson and Bisbee in the fall of 2004, with assistance from the Tucson Film Office, the city of Bisbee and the Arizona Film Office. A portion of Congress Street downtown was closed off to film a scene from wartime Viet Nam, while the Tucson Convention Center was used for the first time as a sound stage for this production.

Quite a few of our members assisted in the making of this film. Set decoration was handled by Marcia Calosio, Tina Sims was key hairstylist with assistance from Claudia Breckenridge, Kate Jesse was the boom operator and Mike McGinn served as location manager.

APA is proud to support our local film community by being one of the sponsors of this event!

Get a taste of Hollywood and join in on the fun and excitement! Tickets to the premiere are $25 and are available by calling 520-624-1515 or visiting: www.foxtucsontheatre.org.
