Dear Friends,
The Now Theatre has been a great friend and partner of The Rogue. They have, over the past three seasons, presented companion plays to our programming in late night performances after our shows. The artists of The Now Theatre are dedicated, sophisticated and very talented and we eagerly share news of their latest adventure--this time in prime time!
The Now Theatre
presents
THE PILLOWMAN
by Martin McDonagh
July 23-August 7, 2011
Saturdays at 7:30 P.M.; Sundays at 2:00 P.M.
Katurian, a writer in an unnamed totalitarian dictatorship, has been accused of inspiring--through the plotlines of his stories--a series of violent child murders. His government interrogators, Tupolski and Ariel, have already secured an incriminating confession from Katurian's brother, Michal, and plan on executing Katurian and erasing any record of his stories, eliminating any future threat they might inspire. But where's the real threat? Is it in the stories, or in the government?
Playwright McDonagh has created a dark and humorous, provocative and galvanizing piece of theatre that deviously blurs the lines between life, art, and politics.
The Now Theatre and The Rogue Theatre have co-produced three seasons of "After Curfew Series" late-night theatre, including Arizona Daily Star MAC Award nominees and winners Overruled, and Some Girl(s). The artists at The Rogue have generously served as mentors to those at The Now, and the two share a commitment to language and idea-based plays.
