Artistic Director, Gail Mangham, announces "Path 2012-The Artist's Response to Love."  The Artist's Path invites playwrights in Arizona, California, New Mexico and Texas to submit 5 to 15 minute monologues or solo pieces written in response to the theme of Love.  The pieces are to be performed by one performer only.

 

Submission is by email attachment, double spaced, in 12 pt font size in one of the following typefaces:   Times New Roman, Arial, Courier or Calibri to:  gailm@theartistspath.org.  They can also be mailed to The Artist's Path, 1608 St Andrews Way, Prescott, AZ 86301. It is left to the discretion of each playwright whether to include production notes.  No age restrictions. 

Submission Deadline is January 14, 2012.

 

A selection of pieces will be chosen for public performance to take place in April, 2012 at The Elks Opera House and Other Venues in Prescott, AZ.  Selection will be based on a combination of attention to theme, artistic value and how the piece works with other submissions. 

 

Playwrights have a variety of options open to them.  He or she may perform the pieces, cast another performer and direct him/her, or enlist a performer and director from their geographic area to travel to Prescott or find someone in the Prescott area to prepare the piece for performance.  One actor may also direct himself with approval of the playwright. Bear in mind these are not readings, but rather performances.

In all likelihood, lighting, sound, set, props, and costuming will be minimal.  So be prepared for a bare bones production.  Due to the economy and the reduction of funding from grants, The Artist's Path cannot at this time commit to stipends for playwrights and actors.  It is hoped that this situation will improve in the coming months.  At the very least we hope to provide gift certificates to local restaurants, etc.
