ATC's SUMMER ON STAGE 2017 presents MACBETH

MACBETH (SUMMER ON STAGE 2017)

By WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE
Directed by JASMINE ROTH

Summer 2017 is the SOS/SBS Summer of Horror!

Part supernatural horror story, part high-stakes political thriller, Shakespeare’s Macbeth is a chilling tale of ambition, deception, and murder in the royal court of Scotland. William Shakespeare’s classic tragedy comes to life in a post-apocalyptic teenage world. The young Macbeth receives a prophecy from a trio of Weird Sisters that he will one day be king. Consumed by his ambition and urged by his wife, Macbeth murders King Duncan to take the throne for himself. Then, wracked with guilt and paranoia, he continues to murder others in order to protect himself, which eventually leads to civil war, madness, and death.

Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased online or at the door.

Summer on Stage is a five-week intensive training program for high school students interested in developing advanced skills in theatre arts. By training with the professionals at Arizona Theatre Company, the students gain real world experience by helping to create two fully produced productions – one play and one musical – while also training in onstage and backstage techniques. The Onstage students learn skills in auditioning, voice, dance, movement, text analysis, Shakespeare, acting methods, improvisation and stage combat; and the Backstage students develop skills in lighting, sound, paints and props, stage management, and set design, while also helping to create the design elements for the productions. This year, Summer on Stage is culminating with our production of Macbeth on July 27th at 7:00 p.m., and The Addams Family on July 28th at 7:00 p.m.
