Subject: Luna Gale opens on Friday!
Luna Gale begins in a hospital emergency room. Peter and Karlie, young, unmarried and addicted to methamphetamine, have brought their severely ill daughter Luna for treatment. There, a veteran social worker, Caroline, becomes responsible for her placement. The task seems straightforward at first, as Caroline places Luna in the care of her grandmother. But Caroline's task is very quickly complicated by family secrets, religious zealotry, the pressures of an underfunded and overworked bureaucracy and, most of all, Caroline's own troubled past. Luna Gale is, at its core, a powerful, haunting drama about the difficulty of knowing how to do good in a world where faith can border on fanaticism and the best efforts to save a child bang against a reality that too frequently offers more roadblocks than solutions.
