Subject: For Immediate Release: The School of Theatre, Film & Television presents a Screening of Second Assault, by Filmmaker and UA Graduate, Jillian Corsie

Tucson, AZ – The School of Theatre, Film & Television presents a screening of Second Assault, by filmmaker and University of Arizona graduate Jillian Corsie, Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 2:30pm in the Physics-Atmospheric Sciences Building, Room 224 (located on the University of Arizona campus).

Second Assault is an extraordinary film that focuses on one woman’s experience in the aftermath of sexual assault.  As a young college student in her first weeks as a freshman at The University of Arizona, filmmaker Jillian Corsie was sexually assaulted on campus in her dorm room.  With the rise of the #MeToo movement, Corsie, a graduate of the Film & Television program at the University of Arizona, felt compelled to share her personal story on film.

Second Assault follows Corsie on the journey to confront this incident and in particular, her anger toward the police officer who deemed the assault consensual. This film explores the trauma of reporting sexual violence, and the “second assault” that survivors often experience when they are not believed.

Second Assault is traveling the film festival circuit and winning many awards and accolades along the way including Best Director, Global Impact Film Festival (2018) and Winner Audience Choice Award, Julien Dubuque International Film Festival (2018).  The film has also been featured in the HuffPost, and most recently, in The Daily Wildcat.

The campus screening of Second Assault scheduled on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 is free and open to the public.  Tickets are not required for admission.  The filmmaker, Jillian Corsie will be present to introduce the film and conduct a Q&A immediately following the film.
