Auditions for Hot Mikado have been announced! 

 

About the Show

"Hot Mikado" is a re-imaging of a classic operetta by legendary opera composer and librettist team Gilbert and Sullivan.  The lyrics, story and melodies stay the same, but the orchestration transforms the music into blues, jazz and gospel classics.  Take a listen to the music here.

Audition Information

Auditions will be held at KU Studios (6066 N Oracle Rd) on Saturday, August 24th 5p-9p. Callbacks will be held Sunday, August 25th from 5p-9p. There will be a dance call at callbacks. Please be prepared for a Broadway jazz and/or tap combination.

You will need to prepare 16-32 bars of both an uptempo song and a ballad. Blues/gospel and Swing/Jazz standards encouraged, but not required. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring a resume (and headshot if available) to auditions. You will be notified shortly after the audition whether we will be needing to see you at callbacks.

Rehearsal Period October 6th - January 12th

Rehearsals will be weekends (Fri, Sat, Sun) and a weekday TBD for vocals

**Holiday rehearsal schedule is TBD.**
January 12th -16th - Technical rehearsals M-Th from 5p-10p
January 17th - 26th - Performances on January 17th (7:30), 18th (7:30), 19th (2:00), 24th (7:30), 25th (7:30), and 26th (2:00) with a possible brush-up/run-through scheduled for Thursday, January 23rd.
