TIM's Funny Girls Stand Up for Charity
TIM is invading Flagstaff! That's right you heard me right, we will be performing improv up the hill, and the temperature is guaranteed to be less than 100 degrees. We have become good friends with the players of Tiny Punches, the Flag based comedy team who has been to every TCAF since the beginning. It has been so cool to see a growing improv and comedy community develop in Flag.
After a few months of intense negotiations, we have locked in a team. Shatfan, a TIM harold team, will be taking their comedic stylings to the pines. How long will their show go, 25 minutes or two hours, you need to be there to find out!
While I am proud of the work we do here on a weekly basis, it is so important for us to get our name and teams out there on the national stage. I'm excited to add Flagstaff to an impressive lists of places we have taken the movement. Watch out New York City, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Phoenix, because Flagstaff here we come!
OG TIMster Ariel Fisher doubles as a standup-feature at the long-running Estrogen Hour at Laff's Comedy Caffe on Sunday, August 25. She's joined on the bill by Cathy Sproul, who, like Fisher, is proud product of Mo Urban's Standup 101 class, and by yours truly, qualified mainly as the comedy correspondent for Tucson Weekly. We are among a dozen women lined up to perform in The Estrogen Hour: True Confessions, the latest in an approximately quarterly series of fundraisers for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
The series, originated by veteran Tucson comic Nancy Stanley, celebrates women in comedy, although the bill occasionally includes a "guestosterone." Who will it be? Highlights are performances by "comedy virgins," women performing their first stand-up routines. Over more than a dozen shows, the series has raised more than $20,000 for LLS.
The Estrogen Hour: True Confessions starts at 6:30 p.m. at Laffs Comedy Caffe, 2900 E. Broadway Blvd. Tickets are $15 via https://tinyurl.com/estrogenAug25 or $20 at the door on the rare occasions the event doesn't sell out in advance. The show is for ages 21 and older and Laffs has a two-item minimum.
