TUCSON COMMUNITY THEATER COMPANY

The Major Motion Film "9/11" Will Return to the Tucson Stage as "ELEVATOR", Directed by its Original Tucson Author.

Tucson scriptwriter Patrick J. Carson's script "Elevator" which was originally produced as a play at Pima College's Proscenium Theater in 2011, was adapted last year into the internationally released motion picture "9/11" starring Whoopie Goldberg, Charlie Sheen and Gina Gershon. The video rights were acquired by Fox Entertainment and it is available on Amazon, Netflix and other streaming services.

This fall, "Elevator" will come back to the Tucson stage, once again directed by its author Mr. Carson as was originally performed at Pima college. This time the play will have a three week run, premiering September 11 and running through September 29 with Tucson actors in all roles. "Elevator" represents the original script that the film was based on without the massive Hollywood rewrites. All performances will be held at the GLH Event Center, 1365 West Grant Rd, Tucson, Arizona.

Tickets and cast information are available at www.tucsoncommunitytheatercompany.com, or get tickets directly at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/4275017

"Elevator" tells the story of six strangers who are trapped inside an elevator in Tower One of the World Trade Center. It follows the exact true details of what happened to the elevator systems in real time on the morning of 9/11. The six passengers represent the variety of people who worked and visited the World Trade Center that day.

"Elevator" is not so much about the tragedy of 9/11 as it is about the heart and soul of humankind. The six individual lives that are thrust together that day begin a journey of self-discovery, camaraderie and pain, yet that journey is laden with love, compassion and even humor. "Elevator" is ultimately about how something inherently good could come of such a terrible situation. One 9/11 survivor who saw the original play wrote that "Mr. Carson has eloquently spoken with his play "Elevator" for all the people who could not speak for themselves."

The play will premiere on September 11, 2019 and run through September 29 and stars Tucson actors David Updegraff, Elizabeth von Isser, Charlize Diaz de León, Tony Eckstat, Jade Ashton and Peter Bryfogle.

The venue features a full bar and refreshments. Intense dialog and situations makes this play appropriate for ages 12 & up.

Mr. Carson has written and sold over 50 film scripts since 1986 (his first script was made into the film Deadly Ritual) and has directed, produced and acted in over 50 films and commercials. He is the original founder and teacher of the Film Actor Workshops in Tucson (which he turned over to new owners last May) and the founder of The Tucson Community Theater Company, of which "Elevator" is its third production.
