What a great weekend we had with the Cactus Flower Comedy Festival. Last weekend was a rush with so many different teams from across town performing at the theater, and just a big celebration of women and gender non-binary folks in comedy! It was amazing to have Jill Bernard and Shannon Stott Dale here to teach workshops and perform. Their duo two set was amazing, and Jill's performance of Drum Machine brought down the house, and made the audience stand up for a standing ovation. I love the events we put on over the year, and CFCF is one of the best. Thank you to everyone who came out and saw a show, took a workshop, and enjoyed a great community of people enjoying comedy!
As we turn the page to March, the fun doesn't end. March Madness basketball, phew, Improv Madness comedy duos is the name of the game. Another one of my favorite events of the year is the four weeks where teams compete to be the Improv Madness Champion. Get out and vote for your favorites so they make it through to the next round. The first weeks contestants are:
- Buttonholes (Alexander Danvers & Gerry Morgan)
- Late Night w/ The Real Rich Gary (Luke Connell & Rich Gary)
- D&D with D&D (Drake Belt & David Flaxx)
- Salt and Pepper (Jennifer Lamfers & Kurt Lueders)
- Meatcakes (Ash Trudinger-Smith & Sara Alcazar Silva)
Last but not least, this Friday we feature the kick off of a national comedy tour! Will Martin, former TCAF headliner and instructor, will be in Tucson Friday night at 7:30 pm to perform Total Loss a show about death. Check out this article by the Boston Globe about the show, and make sure you get out to support some Live and National comedy!
