Workshop Weekend

/

We can hardly contain our excitement!

This Sunday, hilarious & witty veteran improviser Celeste Pechous will step into our Virtual Training Center.

Pechous has toured and performed all over the world as an alumna of National Touring Company with Second City. She has trained and performed at Second City, iO Chicago/LA, and The Annoyance and teaches Improv at Second City Hollywood and for UCLA's Extension Studies.

You might even recognize her from one of her MANY national commercial spots that you can watch below.

Pechous currently plays the role of Campbell in Showtime's Work in Progress, the acclaimed new comedy series created by Chicago improv mainstay Abby McEnany.

She's bringing a wealth of improv knowledge to our training center and is one of our guest instructors you won't want to miss!

Guest workshops are open to students of all ages & experience, and are a great way to work your creative brain from the comfort and safety of your own home.

Sunday, 9/20 10am
The Initiation
Register here: https://www.unscrewedtheater.org/event/pechous-initiation-2020-09-20/

If you've ever struggled to start a scene, this workshop is for you. We'll work that initiation muscle and lessen your fears so you can be confident right out of the gate. Learn how to stop second-guessing yourself and to act with an improviser's instinct.

Sunday, 9/20, 2pm
A Taste of Long-form
Register here: https://www.unscrewedtheater.org/event/pechous-longform-2020-09-20/

Dissect the long-form structure bit by bit, starting with the opening and moving into the game, tag outs, walk-ons, editing, callbacks, ensemble, grounded-scene work, environment/object heightening and of course the characters and relationships that drive the long-form forward.

Sunday, 9/27 10am
The Two-Person Monoscene
Register here: https://www.unscrewedtheater.org/event/pechous-monoscene-2020-09-27/

A ten-minute, two-person scene… make you a little nervous? Good. That means you're ready. Before you know it you'll easily be able to do a two-person 25 minute set. Detailed analyzation and notes after each scene. YOU can (and will) do it.

Sunday, 9/27, 2pm
The Supporting Role

Register here: https://www.unscrewedtheater.org/event/pechous-support-2020-09-27/

Support Roles are often undermined in their concrete ability to heighten and enhance a scene to it's full potential. This workshop will allow you to look at the scene from a whole new angle via different avenues of supporting what is already there by adding to the scene via entrances, exits, walk-ons, background and atmosphere. Find purpose, timing and voice in your supporting roles.

You'll learn the four basics of improvisation:

  2. Support each other
  3. It's an actor's job to justify (work with what you have)
  4. Be seen & be heard

That SAME NIGHT, you show off your new skills in a live-streamed online show which will later be posted to Youtube. Check out the video from last class as they showcase their skills in a game of Freeze Tag!
