Live Theatre Workshop is happy to announce our 2nd annual playwriting contest for all local students between the ages of 12-18.
We are looking for original short plays of any genre no more than 7 pages in length. Submissions are due December 31, 2020.
On February 5, 2021 we will announce the top 6 plays to be workshopped. These shows will be paired up with some of our very own local seasoned playwrights who will help our young playwrights workshop their scripts.
In the spring we will have open auditions for students to perform in one of our top 6 shows which will be showcased early summer. More information on auditions and showcase dates to come after the new year.
Guidelines for Submission:
- To submit your short play please send them to Live Theatre Workshop’s Director of Children’s Programming, Amanda Gremel, at Amanda.g@livetheatreworkshop.org
- In your email please provide your name, age, school, contact information, and a PDF version of your script attached to the email.
- With your script you must provide a cover page that includes the title, descriptions of each character, and 3-5 sentences describing plot. (Cover page is not included in the page limit)
- Most importantly your name cannot appear on your script. All our judges will be scoring each play without knowing who the playwright is or where they are from.
- There should be no more than 5 roles in your play.
