Learning these basic techniques will instantly improve the emotional impact and quality of your writing.
Writing great dialogue is a combination of having a trained ear (knowing what to listen for) and learning basic technique.  This mini-workshop helps you sharpen your ear, making your dialogue crisp, effective, suspenseful and memorable.  Great dialogue scenes have strong structure which is learnable, and will insure that all your dialogue scenes have maximum impact.

Great films have memorable lines of dialogue:  "You had me at Hello." "Frankly, My Dear, I don't give a damn!" "We'll always have Paris." "We're not in Kansas anymore,"  "Go ahead.  Make my day."  "Houston, we have a problem."  "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get." "Of all the gin joints in the world, she had to walk into mine."  These lines stay with us forever!

Writing dialogue is great fun – and writing great dialogue is electrifying!  It can make the difference between selling a screenplay or publishing a book – or having your project remain a manuscript sitting in your file drawer!

Brief Bio:
Genie Joseph, PhD is an Emmy Award-winning Producer, the former CEO of Hawaii Movie Studios, and was an ABC TV Producer/Director.  She ran the student intern program for Nickelodeon giving many emerging filmmakers their first break in episodic television.  For the past four years, she has been a top judge at The PAGE International Screenwriting competition where she reads over 300 scripts a year.  With an MFA in screenwriting, she is a story analyst and helps many screenwriters achieve success.  She is a published author and has written over 30 screenplays and sold seven to independent film companies.  She teaches media and communication at Chaminade University and is President of Independent Film Arizona.  Genie is Executive Director of a new non-profit, The Human-Animal Connection which brings therapy animals and veterans together for healing.
