We've got
Improv FUN
for 2021!
Sayonara, 2020.
Woo Hoo! Happy New Year! 🥳🎉 Hope yours was memorable (in a good way.)
Let's talk about some Improv Fun for EVERYONE in 2021! We've learned things we never knew in 2020, and were reminded of things we may have forgotten. Like how much fun OTHER people's pets are!
As we flip the calendar to a new number, I'd like to thank all of you for your support. We're headed into the new year with a renewed sense of hope, and the intention of making this a year as great as last year was challenging. Continuing the laughter and good times in as many ways as possible.
Our hope and gratitude meter went off the charts a couple of weeks ago! We received a Tucson CARES for Entertainment Venues & Stages Grant funded by the City of Tucson "We Are One/Somos Uno Resiliency Fund." This grant will help cover some much-needed operating expenses and extend our financial cushion into 2021. Phew.
We're extending a HUGE thank you to the Arts Foundation for Tucson and Southern Arizona, Mayor Regina Romero and Steve Kozachik of Tucson City Council Ward 6. Tucson's focus on the Arts is one of things that makes the Old Pueblo so special and a great place for us to call home.
So, for 2021, we'll continue the 100% online funny business every Saturday night, along with offering up NEW online improv classes and workshops!
Online Zoom Shows
All shows are MST, Tucson time, and FREE. You can watch from wherever you are, in any way you want! Just register on our website, then set your alarm for showtime!
10 Minutes With Dawn: Exclusively on our Facebook page. Every Friday at 10am MST, our own Dawn McMillan connects with improvisers from all over the U.S. & the world and creates a 10-minute improv scene! Is there a better way to give your weekend a jump start? I think not.
Every Saturday night @ 7:30, we've got our FREE Family Friendly House Party. And on the 2nd & 4th Saturdays, we add two FREE UNCENSORED shows at 9:30 every month. (Adults only, please!) That's January 9th and 23rd - so plan ahead!
Sunday SmashUp returns – at 6:00 pm on January 31st. It's Open Mic night for the five lucky selected teams, and who knows what will happen! And don't be fooled by the 6pm time slot. We make no promises of family-friendly for this show. Register here.
Online Zoom Classes
Again, all times are MST, Tucson time.
Ready to dive into an improv class? We have a 4-week Improv Basics class starting THIS SATURDAY! If you want to have a good time, expand your comfort zone, and see new faces - this is for you! Our own Mike Vietinghoff will be your improv guide - giving you valuable lessons you can apply to your everyday life. Just say YES and register for the bargain price of $99
Already taken our (or anyone else's) beginning improv class? We have our advanced ImprovBlox class ready to go this Saturday, too. This 6-week session taught by Cy Barlow focuses on Characters & Spacework and will incorporate other principles of improv for a well-rounded experience. Register for $149 here.
Wanna try improv on for size first? Try our Monday night Improv Drop-ins TONIGHT! Join Jon Benda & ME from 6:30-8:00 and have the best Monday ever. No improv experience required, and registration is free, but a modest $10 donation is suggested.
Online Workshops
As in 2020, we'll keep on featuring guest improv instructors from all over the place, and anyone from anywhere can join us!
Sunday, January 17th: Craig & Carla Cackowski - back by popular demand. If you like comedy, you may have seen Craig wear various mustaches and costume pieces on Comedy Central's Drunk History. If you like drunken history, you may have seen Carla drink various beers on Instagram. Carla is offering a workshop titled "Be Your Own Action Hero!" and you can join "Dr. Cacky's Improv Cleansing" with Craig. Each workshop is only $50.
Friday, January 22nd, Scotty Watson is back, too! Scotty will be the ringmaster for a ShowShop (part improv workshop, part livestreamed improv performance.) The ShowShop is limited to 10 participants and only costs $40 - so you better sign up here soon! You can see a sample of Scotty's online improv enjoyment here.
So, that's how we're starting off our improv fun for 2021. Lots of free shows for you & your and family, along with classes and workshops for the newbie and the improv pro's among you.
If you need some motivation this month and want to talk improv, drop me a line at Chris.Seidman@gmail.com or give me a call at 520-975-7035 – and I'd be happy to tell you all the ways that watching and doing improv can change your life forever.
Until next month, be safe, be smart, be selfless, and don't ever forget that even though we're not in the same room, we're still in this TOGETHER! 2021 – We Got This!

Executive Director,
Unscrewed Theater
Unscrewed is Tucson's ONLY 100% volunteer-run 501(c)(3) non-profit community theater dedicated to the fun and healing laughter found in improv comedy.
New to Improv? Our basics class is just for you.
Back for more? This class is your jam.
FREE funny for the fam
every Saturday night!
When we closed our physical doors last March, we never DREAMED they'd be closed this long.
Yet here we are.
Still working so hard to bring a smile to your face, regardless of what's going on outside.
And we'll keep doing this thing until we can open those doors again and welcome you in with open arms. And hugs. Remember hugs?
Everyone at the theater is a volunteer. 100% of the time.
We don't get paid, but the landlord does. And any donation you can make is an investment in the future of funny.
Only give as much as you comfortably can, but even $5 helps. That's less than what it would cost to come see one show in person.
If you can't afford to donate, then we're still happy to bring a smile to your face for free. As often as we can.
Smoosh this button to donate. 👇👇
