Our very own Casey Johnson (a.k.a. The Dancing Gardener) is back with the third installment of his springtime gardening series. We hope you enjoy!:

"Spring is in full swing here in Tucson! Start planning on summer heat now. Make sure to add mulch, shade or protection for newly planted trees, and continue or begin a feeding regime. Foliar feeding is a great option here. Fish and kelp emulsion applied as a foliar spray will do wonders for building a plant's heat tolerance. Compost and manure applied as a topdressing now will help to sustain the plants through our long growing season. Newly planted trees should have their trunks protected from sun scald until they are mature enough to shade their own trunks. Tree paint applied as a whitewash is a great protective measure. Make sure to keep vigilant with watering as the days climb into the 90s. Happy Gardening!!" -The Dancing Gardener
