“Cookin' with Gus” brings together four unlikely characters in a stew of hi-jinks and hilarity. Gussie is a famous food columnist and cookbook author. She has been offered her own TV cooking show – the only trouble is, she is deathly afraid of speaking in front of the camera. Everybody tries to help her get over it…Walter through hypnotism, Bernie her agent by threats, and even wacky Gypsy Carmen from next door casts spells. Just when she thinks she is cured, the taping turns into a comic nightmare!

ABOUT THE CAST
LIZ Mc MAHON (Gus) has been a treasured member of the IT ensemble for many years. She PORTRAYED Sophie Tucker in SOPHIE TUCKER-An American Legend (CDs available at IT boutique). Her other IT credits include memorable performances in ALWAYS...PATSY CLINE, I LOVE YOU, YOU’RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE! Sizzling Summer Sounds Cabaret Series, NUNSENSE, A...MY NAME IS ALICE, SIDE BY SIDE BY SONDHEIM and most recently MESHUGGAH-NUNS. A versatile vocalist, Liz has appeared in many Tucson venues, with Lisa Otey’s Desert Diva’s and has entertained everywhere from Sarasota, Florida to Shetland, Scotland!
JAMES BLAIR (Walter/Designer/Technical Director) is IT’s appreciated Associate Artistic Director and “Renaissance Man.” Some of his most memorable performances were in THE IMMIGRANT, THE REAL INSPECTOR HOUND, CATCH A FALLING STAR, BROADWAY BOUND, LOST IN YONKERS, ACCOMPLICE and most recently KNOCK ‘EM DEAD. Some favorite set and light designs were for SKETCHES - Edith Head’s Hollywood and WHEN PIGS FLY, while favorite directing projects include STEPPING OUT and YOU SHOULD BE SO LUCKY. In addition, James has designed for Desert Voices, The Waterfront Playhouse and Red Barn Theatre in Key West and was guest designer for A FLEA IN HER EAR at The University of Arizona.
JACK NEUBECK (Bernie) After 20 years and 2500 performances on Broadway, including the original companies of EVITA and LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, Jack Neubeck moved to Tucson in 1986 and continues to perform throughout the community. One of his favorites still remains ONCE AND FOREVER, a musical tribute to Irving Berlin, which was conceived and written with Susan Claassen and Jeff Haskell. Jack last played the role of Howard Liszt in the Invisible Theatre’s production of MESHUGGAH-NUNS.
SUSAN CLAASSEN (Carmen/Producer/Designer) is celebrating her 31st anniversary with IT. As Managing Artistic Director, she has produced over 350 productions and directed over 80. She created the role of Edith Head in the world premiere of SKETCHES - Edith Head’s Hollywood and the current touring production of A CONVERSATION WITH EDITH HEAD (check out the web site, www.edithhead.biz, for upcoming tour dates.) Susan has been a member of Actors Equity Association since 1969. Some of her most memorable roles have been Bella in LOST IN YONKERS and Shirley in SHIRLEY VALENTINE. Suz is the director of IT’s PROJECT PASTIME, a National Board Member of PEOPLE FOR THE AMERICAN WAY and a clown in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Tickets for the preview performance on Monday, January 9 cost $16.
Tickets to all other performances are $20-$22.
