2007 ShortFest Call for Films


The film submission process is now open for the 2007 ShortFest - the Arizona independent short film festival. The 2007 ShortFest offers thousands of dollars in filmmaker prizes, films of all genres from anywhere in the world are welcome, and Arizona filmmakers can enter their films for free. Complete details and a downloadable submission form are at Final submission deadline is March 24, 2007.


Entering its second year, the ShortFest packs filmmaker seminars and extensive film screenings into one day. The 2007 ShortFest is April 14 at the Gallagher Theater on the University of Arizona campus. Admission for the entire festival is only $10.


The ShortFest is created and directed by working professional filmmakers, and hours of films from the festival - available for free - are available on the Web at


Last year’s ShortFest included films and filmmakers recognized by the Emmys and Oscars - this year’s festival is already slated to feature Star Trek producer and writer Andre Bormanis as a keynote speaker. Presenting sponsors for the 2007 ShortFest include The Hanson Film Institute and The Arizona Daily Star, and supporting sponsors include Avid Technologies, Inc., The Gallagher Theater, and The Tucson Film Office.
