Belly Dance

Thursdays 7-8pm   June 9th-Sept.2

Today there are many different forms of Belly Dance. Contemporary Belly dance is often a fusion of styles from North India, the Middle East, and Africa. The contribution of American dancers is also significant.  We will explore the essence of movements which involves isolating different parts of the body, especially hips, shoulders, chest and stomach. We will focus on the fluid nature of these movements and how they can create a sense of dignity, build strength and express our sensual being. We will dance our unique expression as well as unified movement. Class will incorporate somatic wisdom, yoga and temple poses to prepare the body and spirit for the dance. We will learn proper posture, technique and the basic vocabulary of belly dance. All ages and body types welcome.

Tucson: Local Producers Go To Extreme Measures for ACCESS TUCSON

From: ifasa@yahoogroups.com [mailto:ifasa@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of APR Video Productions

Subject: [IFASA] PRODUCERS GO TO EXTREME MEASURES TO HELP LOCAL NON PROFIT

Contact: Brad Phipps                     FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Telephone Number: 520-777-8573

Email: apersonalreality@yahoo.com

PRODUCERS GO TO EXTREME MEASURES TO HELP LOCAL NON PROFIT

Access Producers Team Up With Members Of The Independent Film Association Of Southern Arizona (Ifasa) To Create An Extreme Lifestyle Pilot For Fuel And Spike T.V., But Access Tucson Gets It First!

Access Tucson has been in a major battle to keep their doors open for some time now. Not long ago, at a public board meeting, the board asked its producers for help. Help to raise funds & awareness as the city of Tucson had cut their budget pretty much down to nothing. The funds that are still being collected to this day by the cable company are now being directed else ware by the city council. Access Tucson has always been a hub for free speech & many Tucsonans have spread their messages to the world through this media outlet. As many Access Tucson members continue to struggle with the thought of possibly not having a community media center, others are not going down with out a fight.

These young producers and veteran film industry professionals are pooling their resources together with several Tucson business's to create "TWISTED METAL T.V." an extreme lifestyles show that takes you inside every aspect of the extreme, from extreme sports to extreme people. The first episode will focus on some extreme Tucsonans and will have one of Tucson 's most popular extreme bands playing the live show taping on July 4th on 4th ave. Once the pilot has gone through postproduction, Access Tucson viewers will have the first opportunity to see the show, but it will play for only a limited time. Spike TV and Fuel TV will receive copies of the show prior to the Access Tucson play date for show producers to review.

The executive producer of the show Brad Phipps says, "It is important to me that before it goes to Spike T.V. that it be played on Access Tucson first for a couple reasons, one it's about this part of the State. Most of our Guests and sponsors for this episode will be from right here in Tucson . Second and more importantly, it is how we can maybe turn some heads in the direction of Access Tucson and keep pushing the issue into the light until a reasonable solution is reached. A wise person once said, "All you can do, is all you can do, But all you can do is enough". The question most of us must ask ourselves is, are we doing all we can do?"

The following people and businesses are helping to bring everything together; Access Tucson, IFASA, APR Video, Vader Video, Johnny Rays Tattoo, Pit Ball records, Bellezza models Inc., SMS Productions, Rob Booker, Brad Phipps, Theresa Phipps, Shawn Phipps, Andy Hohl, Alex Libeskind, George Castro, Ashley Ver Halen, Rhonda Moretti,

A Personal Reality Video Productions is a home based video production company in business since 2006.

Run by Brad & Theresa Phipps they have been providing the Tucson area with quality wedding, event, and music video services. Brad has been an Access Tucson member since 1995.

The Story

The Story is a narrative about an outcast, quietly living alone in his empty town by the train tracks. One day he finds a dead woman laying on the tracks. He connects with this body, pities it. So, he decides to carry her into his house. Since he lives entirely alone, he creates an odd relationship with the body, as if she is a guest in his house, he begins to care for the corpse. He decides to investigate the crime on his own without the involvement of the police, hoping to bring the killers to justice. This is not your average whodunit, this is the journey through the shadows within the mind of our hero and the mystery of the body becomes a catalyst for his explosive mental breakdown.

This is an introspective analysis about the corruption of human nature, told through speculative narration by the protagonist. This film's comment on violence presents a disturbing metaphor using a Piñata to emulate the deep seated brutality spawned as a child.

Roles Needed:

Protagonist - Male, in his mid-30’s. He is a quiet, soft spoken, sympathetic character, he is often misunderstood. He lives alone, so the presence of this lifeless body becomes a catalyst towards his explosive mental breakdown.

Two Thugs - Both males in their 20‘s to 30’s. They are weedy, cowardly punks. They could be junkies or petty thieves. The disturbed kind of guys who would beat down a homeless man, for fun.

Victim - So, this character can look like anyone. In the victim's scene he is getting beat up by two thugs, so the actor must have staged skills, so it looks like he is getting beat up without actually getting hurt

About

Rio Finnegan - Writer/ Director - Rio is a budding filmmaker, drawing his influences from Kurosawa and Godard  to Gondry and Jonze. He is an active member of Voices Inc, a program designed to produce and share the stories of our community.  He has directed several documentaries, which have shown at the Arizona International Film Festival. He is presently working with the Arizona Theatre Company creating a film documentary of the ATC Summer OnStage program. He grew up emersed in theatre, and believes the experience of live theatre has influenced his desision to be a a practicing screenwriter and playwrite and plans to enroll in the film school at The California Institute of the Arts. He is also an avid music lover and enjoys writing and performing original music with his eclectic blues band, Quaking River.

Donny Tran - Producer - Donny graduated from the University of Arizona and went on to open his own production company shooting 2 pilot shows in Arizona, Get Ripped (WB) and the novela Modelos Y Cueros (Telemundo). He has also worked on several projects in Hollywood including Letters from Iwo Jima, Pirates of the Carribean 3 and Entourage. He teaches documentary video for Voices Inc.

This film doesn't pay, but food and copy of film will be provided. Goals are film fests and Sundance.

Tucson: Discount on Comedy Improv at The Studio for Actors

From: The Studio for Actors [mailto:acting-courses@the-studio-for-actors.com]
Sent: Friday, June 24, 2011 11:10 AM
Subject: Announcement: Discount on Comedy Improv at The Studio for Actors

Taste of Improv Class

The Studio for Actors is offering a "Taste of Improv Class." Here's how it works. Just come on one Wednesday night from 6:30pm-8:00pm for only $30. This class is normally $40, but for the evenings of July 13th or July 27th, you can attend for $30 for one class only, and see how much you love studying improv at The Studio.*

So, if you've always wondered (or if you've never wondered) if you would enjoy comedy improv, this is your chance to check it out.

Call (520) 881-2363 to sign up.  To qualify for the discounted price, you must say the words "Taste of Improv Class" when you call.

* Limit one $30 class per person.

Comedy Improvisation

What a wonderful class to get you to think fast, think on your feet, loosen up your body, and how you move.  In this class, you're also taught dialects.  You don't have to be a "funny person" to do really well in this class, to have a fantastic time, and to learn a great deal.  Comedy improv isn’t half as hard as it looks when you learn it from a former Saturday Night Live cast member.  Anna gives you the keys: formats, dialects, and structure.  Come play, have a ball, and enjoy discovering how funny you can be.  Also, for acting students, studying comedy improv loosens up the body, helps you think fast on your feet, introduces dialects, and sharpens your timing.

4 consecutive Wednesday nights
6:30pm-8:00pm
Start on any Wednesday (but you must call first to sign up).
$40 per week
(If you have to miss one of them, you just pay for it and then take class 5 free.)

To find out more or to sign up, call Anna Risley at (520) 881-2363.

Also being offered:
