Subject: ACTOR'S WORKSHOP
LAYERING A TEXTURED PERFORMANCE
with Steve Anderson, MFA
Dates: (take your pick) Sunday, July 10 OR Saturday, July 16
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Location: Arizona Theatre Company, Cabaret Theatre (Temple of Music & Art) - 330 S. Scott Avenue, Tucson
Fee: $80 (includes lunch)
Who: Adult Actors (18+) - SPACE IS LIMITED TO 8 ACTORS PER WORKSHOP
Why: It's very easy for an actor, even the most experienced actor, to slip into one-dimensional performance. The most textured and engaging performances, however, are multi-dimensional and "layered." Layering is a process that allows the actor to freely and fully explore various elements of acting - one at a time, and then layer those elements together in performance. The elements we will explore in this workshop include "Relationship," "Sense of Place," "Impulsiveness," "Character," "Stillness," and "Breathing & Relaxation."
"Steve's brilliance is in the simplicity of what he teaches. Anchoring, breathing, connecting to the location, the power of stillness, and getting my attention outside of myself. These things have proven to be invaluable to my development as an actor." - Aaron Seever, Phoenix Actor
"So, THIS is what it's supposed to feel like!" - Hunter Hnat, Actor
