ABOUT THE PLAY
Relentlessly cheerful and hopelessly optimistic, Rachel's seemingly perfect life is upended one Christmas Eve when her husband Tom announces he has taken a contract out on her life but is having second thoughts about his decision to do so. Wearing only a nightgown and slippers, she hastily leaves her Connecticut home in a blizzard to escape the fate he planned for her. Originally produced Off-Broadway and eventually adapted into a 2004 film, this richly inventive and often startling dark comedy marked the arrival of an exceptionally imaginative and resourceful young playwright. Filled with bizarre characters and events, the play reflects the fractured life-styles which have become the norm for so many in our tenuous times.

ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT
Craig Lucas is the author of MISSING PERSONS, RECKLESS, BLUE WINDOW, THREE POSTCARDS (with composer/lyricist Craig Carnelia), and PRELUDE TO A KISS. With his frequent collaborator, director Norman Rene, he conceived MARRY ME A LITTLE, a bookless musical fashioned from seventeen previously unpublished songs by Stephen Sondheim. The two also worked together on three films: an adaptation of BLUE WINDOW, which premiered on American Playhouse in 1987, "Longtime Companion," and "Prelude to a Kiss." Mr. Lucas has received the George and Elisabeth Marton Award, the L.A. Drama Critics Award, the Drama Logue Award, Guggenheim and Rockefeller grants, the Outer Critics Circle Award, and the Obie Award. THREE POSTCARDS was selected as Best Musical of 1986-1987 by the Burns Mantle Theatre Yearbook and by "Time Magazine" as one of its ten best. "Longtime Companion" received the Audience Award at the 1990 Sundance U.S. Film Festival. PRELUDE TO A KISS received a Tony Nomination for Best Play during the 1989-1990 season. Mr. Lucas has written two opera texts with composer Gerald Busby—BREEDLOVE and ORPHEUS IN LOVE, which was done at Circle Repertory Company. His work has been performed at South Coast Repertory, Playwright’s Horizons, Circle Repertory, The Production Company, Naked Angels, Ensemble Studio Theatre, the Long Wharf, Berkeley Repertory, Steppenwolf, American Repertory Theatre, San Diego's Old Globe, Atlanta's Alliance, and numerous other regional and resident theatres. A cum laude graduate of Boston University where he studied with poets Anne Sexton and George Starbuck, Mr. Lucas is on the Council of the Dramatists Guild. He is an associate member of South Coast Repertory and member of Circle Repertory.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Rhonda Hallquist - Rachel - has been directing and acting in local theatre productions for many years now. She has worked with Tucson Art Theater (VALENTINE’S DAY, WAITING FOR LEFTY, THE BALLAD OF THE SAD CAFE), and One in Ten Theatre (A LATE SNOW, STREET THEATRE, MOVIE QUEENS). An original member of Bloodhut Productions, she spent 10 years creating and performing OUR OWN BODIES: STORIES FROM THE BLOODHUT, I KNOW AN OLD WOMAN and ONLY SKIN DEEP, among others. Recent local performances include Beth (DINNER WITH FRIENDS), Casey (ANTON IN SHOW BUSINESS), Lane (THE CLEAN HOUSE -- 2010 Arizona Daily Star MAC Award nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy), Betty (WIFE BEGINS AT FORTY), Suzanne (DON’T DRESS FOR DINNER), Maureen (THE BEAUTY QUEEN OF LEENANE) and Female Greek Chorus (HOW I LEARNED TO DRIVE).
Cliff Madison - Ensemble - hails from Mesa, Arizona and grew up in Casa Grande before coming to Tucson to study theatre at Pima Community College. He was last seen on the mainstage at Live Theatre Workshop in THE DINNER PARTY, A THOUSAND CLOWNS, THE UNEXPECTED GUEST and THE MYSTERY OF IRMA VEP. Cliff also recently performed in the Etcetera productions of WHITE PEOPLE and THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, as well as the Winding Road Theater Ensemble production of TALLEY’S FOLLY and Borderlands’ 26 MILES.
Paul Matlock - Production Stage Manager - has served on the technical crew for many mainstage and late-night productions at LTW, including THREE VIEWINGS, DON’T DRESS FOR DINNER, PICNIC, SAVAGE IN LIMBO and HEDWIG & THE ANGRY INCH, to name a few. Earlier this season Paul performed with Winding Road Theatre Ensemble in their productions of THE LION IN WINTER (John) and FIFTH OF JULY (Weston) as well as in LTW mainstage production of THE FOREIGNER (Ellard).
Debbie Hamid-Runge - Ensemble - is happy to be returning to the mainstage at LTW after last appearing in DON’T DRESS FOR DINNER and SEE HOW THEY RUN. Over the years, she has been involved with several Tucson theater productions; both on the stage and behind the scenes.
Lisa Mae Roether - Ensemble - has appeared in PCC’s THE LARAMIE PROJECT, MACBETH and ALL IN THE TIMING, ANYTHING GOES and DAMN YANKEES; Borderlands’ AS BEES IN HONEY DROWN; at Wilde Playhouse in PARALLEL LIVES and THE BLUE ROOM; THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES at The Fox Theatre; LIVING TOGETHER at Live Theatre Workshop and most recently in the Chicken Lipps production of DEAD MAN’S CELL PHONE. She is thrilled to be back on the mainstage at LTW.
Sabian Trout - Direction - is thoroughly enjoying her sixth season as LTW’s Artistic Director. Previous LTW directing credits include THREE VIEWINGS, HOW I LEARNED TO DRIVE, TRYING, THE DINNER PARTY, THE SISTERS ROSENSWEIG, THE GIN GAME, WHAT THE BUTLER SAW, WIFE BEGINS AT FORTY, SHIRLEY VALENTINE, LOST IN YONKERS, FUNNY MONEY, DANCING AT LUGHNASA, THE LAST NIGHT OF BALLYHOO, THE SEVEN YEAR ITCH, BELL BOOK AND CANDLE, STEEL MAGNOLIAS, ARSENIC AND OLD LACE, BROADWAY BOUND and BABY WITH THE BATHWATER. Professional credits include productions at the Stratford Festival of Canada, Indiana Repertory Theatre, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, Missouri Repertory Theatre, Actors Theatre of Phoenix, The Phoenix Theatre in Indianapolis, Austin’s State Theatre, LA Theatre Works and Arizona Theatre Company. Other Tucson directing credits include LOVE LETTERS, EXTREMITIES, THE TALE OF THE ALLERGIST’S WIFE and ON THE VERGE. Some favorite directing projects include SPIKE HEELS, BEIRUT and KORCZAK AND THE CHILDREN. Sabian earned her MFA in Directing from the University of Texas in 1995.
Keith Wick - Lloyd - is happy to once again appear in another Live Theatre Workshop Mainstage production. Previous LTW acting credits include DANCING AT LUGHNASA, SPIDER’S WEB, FUNNY MONEY, LOST IN YONKERS, A TUNA CHRISTMAS, WIFE BEGINS AT FORTY, WHAT THE BUTLER SAW, DON’T DRESS FOR DINNER (2010 Arizona Daily Star MAC Award Winner -- Best Actor in a Comedy), THE SISTERS ROSENSWEIG, HOW I LEARNED TO DRIVE and THREE VIEWINGS. Keith has also appeared in several All Together Theatre productions at LTW. He is a graduate of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Some of his favorite roles include Fluellen in HENRY V, Second Man in AND THEY DANCE REAL SLOW IN JACKSON, Clive Champion-Cheney in THE CIRCLE and Nathan Detroit in GUYS AND DOLLS. Keith is a recipient of an AriZoni award for his portrayal of Dromio of Syracuse in the Southwest Shakespeare Production of A COMEDY OF ERRORS.
David Zinke - Ensemble - has performed at Pima Community College as Giles Corey (THE CRUCIBLE), Gaston (PICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE), Dodge (BURIED CHILD), Leonardo (MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING), Mr. Appopolous (WONDERFUL TOWN) and Rev. Shaw Moore (FOOTLOOSE). He appeared as an invited artist in Arizona Repetory Theatre’s CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF and at Top Hat Theatre Club in HARVEY. He has worked with Studio Connections as Theseus (A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM), Roy Cohn (ANGELS IN AMERICA: MILLENIUM APPROACHES) and as the Man (THE RETURN OF THE RAVEN). Most recently, he appeared as Ivor Fish in Beowulf Alley Theatre’s production of ROUGH CROSSING. Currently enrolled at UA, he’ll get his BA in Fine Arts next spring. This is David’s first appearance at LTW.
