"The Invisible Art of Editing"

Tuesday, June 6th at 7 PM

Art Institute of Tucson
5099 E Grant Rd, Tucson, AZ 85719

Open to the public

This interactive workshop is an overview of the principles and aesthetics of editing.

Taking a quick look at the history, this class explores the Hidden Art of Editing.  Editing impacts the rhythm, tone, pace and style of your film or video. Great editing can make a film great – and weak editing can undermine the best projects.  Come try your hand at "paper editing" a simple sequence and see how just changing the order (or length) of one shot can change the meaning and message of a scene.

Presenter:

Genie Joseph, PhD – Producer/Director – Former ABC staff Producer/Director, winner of International film awards and host of her own TV and Radio talk show in Honolulu.

Genie apprenticed to Woody Allen's editors and has edited a dozen feature films, documentaries, commercials and many corporate training films for such companies as Jaguar Cars, BMW, Mobil Oil, New York City Office of Business Development.  She has been an editing consultant for several feature films made in Arizona.  She is an award-winning screenwriter and her feature films have been distributed by SONY and played on Cable TV.

She teaches Television Production and Screenwriting at Chaminade University.

She recently moved to Tucson, where she is founder of The Animal Consciousness Institute.
