SYNOPSIS:

Mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnson Cano (Don Giovanni, 2016) joins the 2018 Tucson Desert Song Festival for a vocal recital dedicated to English and American Song with pianist and Tucson native, Christopher Cano.

Winning both the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and Young Concert Artists International Auditions within the same year, Cano has appeared with the Metropolitan Opera in over 120 performances and continues to establish relationships with the symphony orchestras of Cleveland, Baltimore, San Francisco, and Atlanta along with the New York and Los Angeles Philharmonic orchestras among others.

Recital debuts of great acclaim have been presented in New York’s Carnegie Hall, Boston, Philadelphia and Washington D.C. at the Kennedy Center.

"Emotion suffused every moment of her eloquent, impassioned New York debut recital. She met with elegance and confidence all the challenges of a varied program... (She) has it: an honesty and assurance so impressive that you want to call it bravery. Hers is better than a good voice; it's an interesting one."
