Winding Road Theater Ensemble presents the magical musical:
The Fantasticks
Book and Lyrics by Tom Jones
Music by Harvey Schmidt
Presented in cooperation with Music Theatre International
Directed by Maria A. Caprile
February 1 - 18, 2018
"Try to Remember" a time when this romantic charmer wasn't enchanting audiences around the globe. THE FANTASTICKS is the longest running musical in the world and with good reason: at the heart of its breathtaking poetry and subtle theatrical sophistication is a purity and simplicity that transcends cultural barriers. The result is a timeless fable of love that manages to be nostalgic and universal at the same time.
Starring U of A vocal scholar Mark Hockenberry as El Gallo with Kelly Coates as The Girl, Damian Garcia as The Boy, and Elena Terry as The Mute. The Fathers are played by ensemble member Tony Caprile and Forbidden Broadway veteran G. J. James. Ensemble member Chad Davies plays Henry, The Old Actor and local favorite Eddie Diaz rounds out the cast with his inventive portrayal of Mortimer, The Man Who Dies.
This production features new lyrics by the authors and an updated script. A family favorite, The Fantasticks is the perfect first musical and a guided tour back to our youth. "It is September, before a rainfall. A perfect time to be in love."
