The Gaslight Theatre is looking for an experienced Assistant Stage Manager to join our team.
The Assistant Stage Manager (ASM) is responsible for assisting the Stage Manager. They help keep track of cast members, sets, and miscellaneous details during rehearsals and production of the stage performance, as directed by the Stage Manager. During pre-production the ASM should help with setup and breakdown of the stage, and have knowledge of what is to take place on the stage during the performance. During performances, the ASM will be on a headset, and will be the eyes and ears backstage for the Stage Manager. They are responsible for responding to cues, overseeing the backstage area, and supporting actors in the wings.
· Responsibilities:
· Support the Stage Manager, help with all daily duties;
· Help set the stage each night for the show;
· Support and oversee all backstage work during the show;
· Be stationed stage left or stage right and wear a headset for communication;
· Communicate with the Stage Manager/Light Booth promptly if any problems arise;
· Perform all post show duties, make sure the stage is set for opening the next day, and that all other materials are properly put away, turned off, and stored correctly;
· Assist other member of the production team with their nightly duties, if necessary.Requirements:
· Previous (college theatre or higher) tech/stage management experience is helpful;
· Must be able to stand for long periods of time;
· Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds;
· Must have open availability and can work afternoons, nights, weekends and/or holidays (Typically we perform Tuesday-Sundays, and more during the Christmas season.)- A "can-do", friendly and fun attitude.
