Improv 101 Class
Love coming to our shows? Ever thought to yourself "I could do that!" Well, you can. And we can show you how. Our instructors have YEARS of experience teaching and performing improv - but they still remember what it's like to be a beginner. They'll coach you to be the best you can be, regardless of your reasons for taking the class.
You'll learn to live in the moment, work with a team of friendly funny people - and make some great new friends. You'll laugh the night away, and change your life for the better. Guaranteed.
Even if you don't have the bug to be a performer. Improv helps you get more out of your personal relationships, business relationships, and life in general - AND IT'S FUN!
Wednesdays 7:00pm - 9:30pm
Starting June 13th - for 8 Weeks
Tuition: $200
Instructor: Mike Vietinghoff
Pay in full and you'll also receive a FREE Unscrewed Theater T-shirt.
Mike's Bio
Mike has been studying, performing and teaching improv for 15 years. He is one of the founding members of Unscrewed Theater and performs weekly with Not Burnt Out Just Unscrewed. He firmly believes that the skills you learn in improv are directly applicable to everyday life.
Beginning Musical Improv
June 16 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
Learn how to sing a song on the spot! No singing experience required! Explore the fundamental principles of musical improv.
Using musical improv games and the techniques of improvised musical theater, students will learn to improvise melody, lyrics, harmony, rhyme, and even some choreography. Anyone can learn to improvise songs. Come have fun learning how!
Cy's Bio
Cy is a musician with a day job in IT at the UA College of Fine Arts. She has degrees in making musical stuff up, talking about musical stuff people made up, and hitting stuff musically, but mostly she does stuff with computers, improvises stuff, and plays stuff on steel drums. Cy is probably not your uncle.
Improv for Actors: "Beyond the Page"
June 30 @ 11:00 am
Use the tools of improv to accentuate and punctuate your acting skills.
- Learn new techniques to help explore and inhabit your characters completely.
- Incorporate improvisational techniques to read *between* the lines of your script. Learn to roll with WHATEVER may happen on stage during the performance. Because every performance goes perfectly, right?
- Tips on how to work well with the rest of your cast and crew. Not to mention the Director.
Chris's Bio
Chris has been a performing member of Not Burnt Out Just Unscrewed since 2005, and teaching improv for over four years.
In addition to collaborating with Unscrewed Theater's professional instructor team, Chris has studied improv theory and practice with a variety of improv veterans, including educational directors of Second City and iO. Chris believes the world would be a better place if everyone took an improv class - AND, it's fun!
Improv changes lives.
