Happy Holidays it's the most festive time of the year down here at TIM!  I don't know about you, but I have been freezing and the only way to warm up is by putting on an Ugly Sweater.  And you are in luck, because we have a whole show based on mistletoe and holly jolly comedy.  Short form makes its triumphant return to the TIM Comedy Theater on Saturday nights at 7:30 with the Improv Ugly Sweater Show, and the best deal is if you wear an ugly sweater to the show you get $1 off beer, wine and everyone's favorite White Claw flavor.  An event not to be missed this holiday season.

Also coming up this week we have our biannual auditions to join the TIM Performing Company.  Have you been in our classes, and looking to turn something fun into performing on the regular?  If yes, then sign up here to get more information and to reserve your seat at our upcoming auditions on Sunday!

Comedy for the Social Security Set

By Linda Ray

"The only thing David Fitzsimmons should be drawing is Social Security!"

The Arizona Daily Star cartoonist known as Fitz makes that joke now that he's old enough to complain about his health and have Medicare pay for it. But he's still young enough to make trouble, or at least smash a comedy paradigm.

Last April, at the instigation of Ron Reid and Ira Leavitt, Fitzsimmons and I conscripted some friends to create Still Standing Up, a comedy show by, for and about folks over 60. The show debuts at an age-appropriate 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 8 at Laffs Comedy Caffe. Admission is $10 via a reservation on Eventbrite.com

Ron Reid, retired from decades of artist management, teaches a standup comedy class through UArizona's OLLI program. Ira Leavitt was a student last year and roped Ron into helping organize a show to book it into retirement community centers.

I recruited Dave Margolis, creator of Casa de Marana Comedy. Fitz brought in his long-time collaborators, attorney Elliot Glicksman and former Ad agency owner Jay Taylor. Both have national experience as comedians; Jay has even been on Johnny Carson!

Send your grandparents to the show!
