Tucson-based Lindsey McHugh has two main passions—the arts and advocating for the rights, needs, and capabilities of those who are blind or visually impaired. She has served as Music and Sound Supervisor for Arizona Theatre Matters since 2012 and is currently pursuing a doctorate from the University of Arizona in Applied Intercultural Arts Research. In her work with ATM, Lindsey provides leadership and sound designs that enhance the theatrical experience for blind and visually impaired audiences. She holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Music Education, has taught music in public schools and has served as musical director/sound designer for a number of community, youth, and radio theatre productions, both in-person and online. In addition, she is regularly featured as a soprano soloist with Sons of Orpheus—the Male Choir of Tucson, whom she accompanied on a concert tour of Paris and Angers, France. In what little downtime she has, Lindsey can be found playing the piano and singing, spending time with loved ones, and trying to ride the biggest, fastest roller coasters in the country.
Lindsey will be in attendance at the upcoming reading of When Churchyards Yawn, "a Hamlet sequel with a twist," says writer-director Jeanmarie Simpson.
"Lindsey has been with us from the very beginning when she blew us away at the audition," Simpson continued.
