FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Lyric Arts and Old Pueblo Playwrights are proud to announce the Tucson production of  WHAT I HEARD ABOUT IRAQ, a performance-reading to benefit Iraq Veterans.  One night only – Monday, March 20, 2006, 7:30 p.m. at the Cabaret Theater at the Temple of Music & Art, 330 S. Scott Avenue.  Tickets are $10, additional donations are also tax deductible.  Free food and beverage reception to follow.  For information contact iraq2006benefit@yahoo.com or call 682-3224.

Join us for this dramatic symphony of voices who tell the story of what led America into war in Iraq.  A cast of five actors give a 85-minute performance created entirely from the direct quotes of US and Iraqi politicians, soldiers, officials, and citizens.

On this 3rd anniversary of the start of the war, WHAT I HEARD ABOUT IRAQ is being performed simultaneously world-wide. The Tucson production, with its local director and local actors, will be one of dozens of performances in twelve countries on five continents.

WHAT I HEARD ABOUT IRAQ has been continuously updated to the latest news stories.   It was originally adapted for the stage by Simon Levy from the essay by Eliot Weinberger and has been re-adapted by Tucson director, Ken Tesoriere.

Profits from ticket sales and other donations will aid veteran groups.  Each ticket buyer will be able to choose which charity their donation goes toward:  The National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, Veterans Against The War, or The Red Cross Armed Services Emergency Services.
