We are both BFA Senior Media Arts students casting for our Senior Capstone films. We have actually both worked with you on projects last year.
Below are Character Breakdowns for both films, as well as a synopsis for both. Please have actors email headshots, resumes and preferred audition times to me at kharris1@email.arizona.edu Scheduled appointments between 9:30am - 1:00pm, or open casting will be from 1:00 - 4:00.
BETTER DAYS (Synopsis) A passionate musician must find a way to make enough money to buy a new guitar after his old one is destroyed. He will do anything necessary to further his musical career, even if it leads to a life of crime. In this comedy of errors short, Chuck Figgle finds that his true love is not a woman with sexy curves, but a guitar made out of wood with 6 strings.
[CHUCK FIGGLE]22-27 (to play 23). A struggling musician, Chuck rigorously plays his guitar on the street corner with his buddy Glen. Acting as the leader of the musical duo, he has a sense of vigor salted with lots of sarcasm and humor. Not taking himself too seriously, yet all the while still trying to progress his musical career, Chuck will do whatever is necessary to continue his musical journey.
[GLEN MYERS] 22-27 (to play 23). A straight faced hillarity with a sense of humor that would suit a Three Stooges fan, Glen drums to the beat of his own drum. He plays the bongos along side Chuck on the street corner and is always his sidekick in Chuck's clever schemes. Sensitive and understanding, he'll sacrifice himself for the better good of the band.
[ANNIE SCOTT] 20-25 (to play 24). An attractive, wealthy young woman with a strong head on her shoulders who often portrays a quirky demeanor that sets her aside from other attractive young women. Often in her own little world, she'll be awkward and clumsy, while still eluding a sense of grace. Her ability to swear like a sailor one moment and be a seductress the next, Annie is a paradox all rolled into one stunning piece of work.
FIRST ENCOUNTER SYNOPSIS: After spending months entrenched in existential crisis, Jack joins his best friend for a night on the town in an attempt to re-assimilate into the world. But after a surreal experience involving a dark haired beauty, Jack finds he must move beyond physicality if he wishes to enter into a meaningful relationship.
[JACK] 21-27 (to play 24). Coming off of an extended relationship that ended badly, Jack has spent months entrenched in existential crisis. Jack presently finds himself struggling to connect with women, but agrees to accompany Benji for a night out on the town. LEAD
[BENJI] 21-27 (to play 24). Astute and aware of the world around him, Benji is Jack?s best friend and confidant. He a spiritual being that is liked by nearly everyone. Benji has taken Jack out for the night to attempt to re-inject him into the world around them. He is perhaps Jack?s Guru.
[EVE/ MARIE] 18-25 (to play 21). Beautiful, flawless, and timeless, Eve is everything Jack never knew he needed. She is, herself, more than just another girl. She is all that is for Jack ? she is his uninhibited I-Thou relation. She represents everything he knows and everything he needs.
[COURTNEY] 19-25 (to play 23). Dark haired, sophisticated, and slender, Courtney is the physical manifestation of an I-It world. She strives to experience the world and everything in it, indifferent of potential repercussions. While she is physically attractive, she lacks an understanding of self and spirituality, and thus lives an empty, fleeting life. She ultimately serves as the object of Jack?s I-It experience.
None of these roles have been cast, and may change if necessary.
Thank you Brian, I really appreciate all of your help!
