Subject: Invisible Theatre auditions for BINGO, A Winning New Musical
INVISIBLE THEATRE ANNOUNCES
AUDITIONS FOR THE PLAY
BINGO (A Winning New Musical)
Book by Michael Heitzman and Ilene Reid
Music and Lyrics by Michael Heitzman, Ilene Reid & David Holcenberg
The Invisible Theatre will hold auditions for the musical, BINGO, A Winning New Musical, on Saturday, September 29, 2007, beginning at 11:00 am. Auditions will be held at the Invisible Theatre - 1400 N. First Ave (at Drachman).
Appointments are required and may be made by calling (520) 882-9721.
Actors must bring a recent headshot and resume if the theatre does not have a current one on file, and are required to prepare one short show song. Rob Boone, Musical Director, will provide accompaniment.
BINGO, A Winning New Musical will have its southwest premiere at the Invisible Theatre and will run from May 6 – 25, 2008. Rehearsals will begin in April. Susan Claassen directs. Actors are paid an honorarium.
The following roles are available:
Vern: 40 – 50’s: Matriarch of the group. Funny, robust, stubborn and crusty, but with a good heart buried under her gruff exterior.
Patsy: 40 – 50’s: Somewhat mousey, neurotic, and obsessively superstitious, yet underneath her anxious exterior lies a rock star who can let it rip!
Honey: 40’s: Leggy, beautiful, but a little past her prime. She’s an extremely loveable sex kitten if not the brightest of bulbs.
Sam/Frank: 40’s: Sam is the Bingo caller – tall, rugged, and handsome. He loves his job and takes his calling very seriously – the only thing that can distract him is Honey – the woman of his dreams. In flashbacks, he doubles as Frank – a Bingo employee.
Minnie: 60’s: Friendly bingo hall manager – she’s everyone’s favorite, a cute, cuddly grandma. Although this woman could be the oldest in the group, she’s still spry and quick on her feet. She must be extremely comfortable interacting and improvising with the audience and have a good, warm energy.
Bernice Boodalay: 40 – 50’s: Super mom, genuinely sweet and cheerful. She’s the peacemaker and pie baker, and spreads sunshine wherever she goes. Maybe a little bit passive aggressive with her friends.
Alison Boodalay: 20’s: Bernice’s daughter – fresh faced, comedic, driven, passionate, optimistic, perky and quirky. She is a young character woman in an ingenue’s body.
