UA's ENCORE! directed by Miranda Crispin & The FRESHMAN
DEBUT directed by David Morden Plays ONE NIGHT ONLY!
TUCSON, ARIZONA – For one night only, December 10, 2014, the University of Arizona's Encore! will be paired with our freshman acting students' performance piece, the Freshman Debut.
Each fall, a new edition of Debut is developed specifically to showcase the training and talents of the incoming freshman class of majors in our BFA Acting program, and Encore! presents a lively revue from the best of Broadway and musical theatre performed by our freshman Musical Theatre majors.
"The talented performers in the Freshman Debut have created this show from the ground up, writing a majority of the material themselves, with scenes from established playwrights rounding out the program," Director and Professor David Morden said. "I hope that you get a glimpse of the tremendous potential of this cast and that you look forward, as I do, to seeing these actors as members of Arizona Repertory Theatre in the years ahead."
Encore! 2014-15 presents, Love Sneaks In, which will showcase many love songs from productions new and old, some of which include: Always Starting Over from If/Then, Hey #1 from Next to Normal, Heaven Help My Heart from Chess, and Bye Bye Blackbird from Fosse.
"These songs remind us how, when we aren't looking, and when we open up and allow it, Love Sneaks In," said Encore! Director & Musical Theatre Professor, Miranda Crispin. "The pieces you will hear were selected to showcase these students as individuals and to unite them as a group of young artists."
