Getting ready for the Jazz Age!
300 E. University Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85705 - 520-551-2053 - www.TheRogueTheatre.org
The new spotlight on the Rogue facade!
Dear Rogues,
At 10 o'clock every night for the last three weeks, I've been driving home from rehearsal with a wide smile on my face.
You see, we're working on this summer's production of
F. Scott Fitzgerald's short story, The Jelly Bean, from
his collection of stories, Tales of the Jazz Age.
The story is beautiful and Fitzgerald's prose is strong and sweet.
But the real joy has been working with the artists and dancers of Artifact Dance Project, our summer collaborators. They are incredibly energetic and creative and so much fun.
Oh, Rogues, we're creating something really special for you! We're telling Fitzgerald's story through a combination of dance, music, and story that's unlike anything we've done before.
Rogue regulars Matt Bowdren, Holly Griffith, Christopher Johnson, and Joe McGrath are in the show, but this time, they're all dancing as well as acting. And Artifact Co-founder Claire Hancock is acting as well as dancing. Five other terrific dancers from Artifact make up the cast, with choreography by the brilliant Ashley Bowman. Add Mary Turcotte's beautiful score for piano and reed instruments featuring reed specialist Derek Granger, and we have a real Jazz Age festival!
Is it any wonder I'm smiling?
With joy,
Cynthia Meier

Romance and disillusion in the atmosphere of a 1920s dance.
Jim Powell is a listless lad, a "Jelly Bean."
His diffused potential brings him to a party one night
