Founding Artistic Director Mary Beth Cabana presents an exciting triple bill of works for the company's 2018 Opening Night Gala and Fall Concert.

 

 

 

Spirit Garden

Music:  Calexico

Ballet Tucson revives its highly acclaimed production of Spirit Garden.  Renowned artist Lawrence W. Lee, the music of Tucson's own internationally celebrated troubadours Calexico, and the company's artistic team collaborate on this unique commemoration of the tradition of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).  This ballet celebrates life and honors those who have departed, reminding us that life and death coexist.
 
Boler-O
Choreography:  Daniel Precup
Music:  Maurice Ravel

Ballet Master Daniel Precup's Boler-O has become a company signature piece and audience favorite since its debut in 2012.  Set to Maurice Ravel's riveting score, the ballet captures the pulsing energy and dynamic power of this iconic musical masterpiece. 
 
I'll See You in My Dreams (premiere)
Choreography:  Mark Schneider
Music:  performed by The Great Banjo Summit

I'll See You in My Dreams is a tribute in dance celebrating the great American Songbook of the 1920's & 1930's.  Long-time Ballet Tucson associate Mark Schneider creates a fresh new work complete with bright costumes and exuberant choreography.  Live music will make popular songs such as "Four Leaf Clover" and "On the Sunny Side of the Street" come to life in an updated and effervescent style.  Virtuoso banjo players Rob Wright and Tyler Jackson and world-class guitarist Howard Alden will bring the house down with this rousing finale piece!
