In 1981, Salvadorans fleeing war land in Tucson seeking refuge. The law is not on their side and a group of concerned citizens are left to choose between the law of God and the law of men. Based on the actual people and events that garnered national support, Sanctuary continues Borderlands' signature style of visceral dramatizations of Tucson narratives.
Sanctuary is a site-specific theatrical installation performed and experienced in the physical space where the actual events of the play took place.
