Filmmaker and YouTube Star Darious Britt reveals all:
Personal Branding in the Era of Social Media
Tucson, AZ, January 13, 2020 – As part of its Day for Night: Conversations on Film & Television series, the UA School of Theatre, Film & Television (TFTV) presents a talk by YouTube star and TFTV alumnus Darious Britt entitled Personal Branding: Thriving in the Era of Social Media on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 7:00pm at the Haury Lecture Hall (S107) in the Environment and Natural Resources ENR2 Building (1064 E Lowell Street Tucson, AZ 85719) with a reception to follow. The event is free. Reservations are recommended. Seats can be reserved at https://d4darious.bpt.me/.
The third in the School's new series explores how to cut through the noise and actually connect with audiences via social media – an essential tool for artists and entrepreneurs in today's crowded media environment. A TFTV graduate, Darious has gained worldwide attention with his YouTube channel D4Darious, where his tips on filmmaking, screenwriting and directing have garnered more than 18 million views.
"Many people are intimidated about entering the social media space and building a brand. The reality is small tweaks make big peaks - the smallest things make the biggest difference. You don't have to have major splashy effects to build an audience for yourself," says Britt. In his presentation, the filmmaker will share best practices for building and expanding a personal brand.
The School of Theatre, Film & Television's new lecture series Day for Night: Conversations on Film & Television places a spotlight on the work of TFTV alumni and faculty members, comprising internationally recognized filmmakers, producers, and scholars.
Darious Britt is a Director, Producer, Screenwriter and Actor. He graduated from the School of Theatre, Film & Television in 2012 with a BA in Media Production. His short film Seafood Tester toured to multiple international film festivals including the Oscar-qualifying Aspen Shortsfest in 2012. In August of 2013 Darious created the YouTube channel D4Darious, and it has since grown to attract over 375,000 subscribers and 18.5 million views and counting. His first feature film UNSOUND won 7 awards including best director at The Pan African Film Festival in 2015. In 2019 Britt won nine Telly awards for his feature UNSOUND and the documentary How I Made My FIRST Movie | Making UNSOUND!
