Tucson: Old Pueblo Playwrights New Play Festival

Old Pueblo Playwrights is proud to announce The 15th Annual New Play
Festival, January 26 - 29, 2006 at the Temple of Music & Art,
Cabaret Theater, 330 S. Scott Avenue.   Performances at 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. 
Tickets are $5.00 per performance or $20.00 for a Festival Pass for

The Festival offers a rich, diverse line of all-new plays written by
members of Old Pueblo Playwrights and presented as staged readings. 
After each play, the audience is invited to participate in informal
critique sessions, which help the playwrights to further develop
their work.

7:30 pm  Thursday, January 26

Odd Birds ** 
written by Eugenia Woods, directed by Adam Adolfo-Yzaguirre
A short drama about a married couple negotiating issues of intimacy
as they struggle to adapt to the husband's recent gender
reassignment.

Transitional Objects 
written by Eugenia Woods, directed by Ry Herman
A multi-generational drama of a family coming to terms with the
shifting gender roles and sexual orientation.


7:30 pm  Friday, January 27

The Funniest Joke in the World 
written by Gavin Kayner, directed by Adam Adolfo-Yzaguirre
A full-length drama about a man selling the family bar, the regulars
who've been drinking there since the 40's, and his friends who've
been living rent-free in the rooms upstairs.


2:30 pm  Saturday, January 28

Dead Cat
written and directed by Ry Herman 
A short comedy about a man driven endlessly around Boston by old
friends and ex-lovers seeking a Viking funeral for a dead cat.

Burden Child of St. Paul** 
written by Manuel Peters  and directed by Meg Tully
A drama about a married man who finds and reads the diary of his ex-
girlfriend, leading him to question the events of the past and his
own responsibility. 


7:30 pm  Saturday, January 28

Circle Jerk** 
written by Richard Chaney  and directed by Richard Chaney and David
Swisher
A modern-day la ronde, where eight desperate Seattleites confront
sex and death.


2:30 pm  Sunday, January 29

The Carousel Play 
written and directed by Jack Frakes
A full-length `play-within-a-play' comedy looking at the
interconnecting lives of six men and women of the Carousel
Apartments.
