Director of Development for Tucson & Southern Arizona

Arizona Opera seeks a Director of Development for Tucson and Southern Arizona. This person is responsible for all aspects of fund raising. This includes planning corporate, foundation and individual fund raising; stewardship; fulfillment activity management; donor research; supervision of Assistant Director; acting as liaison with volunteer groups. 

Bachelor's degree required. Must possess minimum of 4 years experience in fund raising. Knowledge of integrated database management desirable—preferably with Raiser's Edge.

Director of Artistic Administration

Arizona Opera seeks a full time Director of Artistic Administration.  This position works closely with and reports to the General & Artistic Director on all artistic matters (casting, season repertoire planning, hiring of singers, stage directors, guest conductors, choreographers, actors, and dancers) and the General Manager on all other matters. 

Duties include, but are not limited to, creation and maintenance of annual artistic budget and budgetary forecasts, coordination of singer auditions both locally and nationally, serving as a committee member for all artist union relations and negotiations (AGMA, AFofM), and serving as a representative to all artist managers: disseminating casting needs, negotiating all artist contracts, and supervision of the Arizona Opera Resident Artist Studio.

The Director of Artistic Administration supervises the Company Manager, and Resident Artist Studio Administrator.  The Director of Artistic Administration represents Arizona Opera in a positive and professional manner to the Board of Directors, community leaders, media, volunteers and donors. The successful candidate must be professional, hard working, and detail oriented.  Position requirements include 5 years experience in arts administration; the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; the ability to direct and manage several projects of equal priority at once, sustain productivity under pressure; and good negotiating skills. Director of Production

Arizona Opera seeks a full time Director of Production. This position works closely with and reports to the General & Artistic Director on all production matters (season repertoire planning, sourcing sets and costumes for productions, hiring and supervision of production staff including designers) and the General Manager on all other matters. The Director of Production oversees the production department, providing leadership to realize the goals of the company and supervising all technical aspects of the company.

Duties include, but are not limited to, creation and maintenance of annual production budget and budgetary forecasts, serving as a committee member for all union relations and negotiations (I.A.T.S.E.); recommending for hire and supervising all production staff including designers; sourcing sets and costumes for productions; and maintaining a safe working environment. In addition, the Director of Production supervises the physical production components of the company’s school tour program, and company special events.

The Director of Production represents Arizona Opera in a positive and professional manner to the Board of Directors, community leaders, media, volunteers and donors. Position requirements include 5 years professional experience in opera or regional theater with a demonstrated successful track record in technical direction and shop management; knowledge of theatrical rigging, automation, hydraulics, and other systems are a plus; a degree in technical theater, design, and/or production is strongly desired; the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; the ability to direct and manage several projects of equal priority at once, and sustain productivity under pressure; good negotiating skills; proficiency with AutoCAD, Vectorworks, PhotoShop, MS Office programs, and Acrobat.
