TAKE COVER! THE "48 HOUR SHOOTOUT" RETURNS TO
THE LOFT CINEMA!
Make a film in two days? Are we crazy? Maybe we're just crazy
enough to want to see what kinds of films Tucson filmmakers can come up with
in 48 hours! Following up on the success of last year's 48 HOUR SHOOTOUT,
The Loft Cinema is once again challenging the local filmmaking community to
a cinematic shootout, which only the strong will survive!
Film shooting begins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 9th, and must be
completed by 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 11th. The big screen premiere
showcase/awards ceremony for all the completed films takes place at The Loft
Cinema on Tuesday, March 27th at 7:00 p.m. Admission to the premiere
screening event is only $5.00.
Contestants can register for the 48 Film Shootout at The Loft Cinema
box-office, or online at the Film Shootout website
(www.myspace.com/filmshootout)., where they can also find all the
information on rules, regulations and deadlines they'll ever need.
The team entry fee is $50, and only 25 spots for filmmaking teams
are available, so get those teams together and sign up now! All
participants will receive four free 48 HOUR SHOOTOUT t-shirts, and four free
passes to the premiere screening event.
The Loft's 48 HOUR SHOOTOUT corrals teams of filmmakers (up to 5
members per team), and gives them 48 HOURS to write, produce, cast, shoot,
and edit an original short film, four to seven minutes long, using a prop, a
line of dialogue, a character's name and a specific genre, all of which
will be assigned moments before shooting begins. Two weeks later, the films
will receive a big screen premiere at The Loft. Awards, determined by an
esteemed panel of judges, will be handed out for Best Picture, Best Actor,
Best Actress, etc., in a unique awards ceremony following the screenings. A
grand prize of $500 in cash will be handed over to those responsible for
the "Best Film" of the Shootout, and other prizes will be awarded in
various categories, including "Audience Favorite."
The judges for the 48 HOUR SHOOTOUT are: Jim Nintzel, The Tucson
Weeky; Martha Vasquez, KVOA-TV; Chuck Graham, The Tucson Citizen; Sherm
and Tic Tac, "The Frank Show," KFMA radio; and Phil Villarreal, The Arizona
Daily Star.
Strap on your holsters and get those cameras rolling . the 48 HOUR
SHOOTOUT is coming!
