Arizona Opera is bringing on the laughs and big stars next season, including the return of Stephanie Blythe.
Blythe leads the cast of the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta “The Mikado” Nov. 15-16, the second production in the season which kicks off Oct. 11-12 with Verdi’s “Rigoletto.“
Critically acclaimed bass Donato Di Stefano is the traveling salesman in Donizetti’s “The Elixir of Love” Jan. 17-18, 2009; and Twyla Robinson returns to Arizona — she made her debut in 2006’s production of Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro” — for the composer’s tragic and comic “Don Giovanni” Feb. 21-22.
The season concludes with Puccini’s “Tosca” April 4-5, featuring acclaimed soprano Lisa Daltirus in the title role. This will mark her Arizona Opera debut in a role that is regarded as her signature role.
