Come join the fun, be in the cool air conditioned atmosphere, and help a local chapter of the International Sweet Adelines raise funds! A bowling party for all, Saturday, August 1st, 2009 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, you get: 2 hours of bowling, bowling ball, rental shoes, all included, for $12.00 per person. It's at Lucky Strike Bowl in midtown, 4015 E. Speedway, on the north side of Speedway, between Alvernon and Columbus.
Plus there'll be plenty of good food and drinks, including beer, at reasonable prices on the full menu at the bowling alley. When you arrive, be sure to say you are there in support of Tucson Desert Harmony, please!
Tucson Desert Harmony is Southern Arizona's premier a cappella women's chorus. TDH is a local chapter of Sweet Adelines International, and has successfully built an award-winning women's chorus here in Tucson. This community-wide group of women sing four-part harmony in the "barbershop" style. They sing the familiar songs—the ones people like to hum along with—and also apply the barbershop style to many popular contemporary songs.
The chorus competes annually with other choruses throughout a four-state region that includes West Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and Southern California. Over the past five years Tucson Desert Harmony improved its scores every year, culminating in a first place finish in 2008 which earned an invitation to compete on a worldwide stage at the October 2009 Sweet Adelines International Convention in Nashville, Tennessee. They always welcome new singers.
Tucson Desert Harmony promotes quality barbershop music while singing with passion, enthusiasm and energy, with each chorus member committed to excellence. Members understand that excellence in singing is accomplished through education, practice, performing, and competing while having fun. Further, the chorus members are committed to sharing their love of music with each other and their community. For information, please contact www.tucsondesertharmony.org or call (520) 790-1813.
