Elwood P. Dowd is a good-natured, mild-mannered eccentric, known in all of the local eateries and saloons in his small town. Elwood is polite, cheerful and always friendly toward strangers. Elwood has just one problematic character trait: His best friend is an invisible six-foot-tall rabbit, Harvey. A beloved classic comedy. One of the most popular plays ever written. Winner of the 1945 Pulitzer Prize, HARVEY ran for 1,775 performances on Broadway and became an Oscar-winning Film with Jimmy Stewart.

ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT

Mary Coyle Chase was born on February 25, 1907 in Denver Colorado. She attended the University of Colorado, and worked for The Rocky Mountain News as a reporter and served as publicity director for the National Youth Administration. Harvey won a Pulitzer Prize and was made into a movie starring James Stewart, and her book ‘The Wicked Pigeon Ladies in the Garden’ was nominated for the Dorothy Canfield Fisher award in 1969.
