WWM-Projects presents
"Walk With Me"
at Berger Performing Arts Center
In this production, you will find compromising issues such as unemployment, peer pressure, bullying and PTSD. Due to the overwhelming local demand and media attention received during the initial production, it is my pleasure to present the replay of "WALK WITH ME". This play is an encouraging theater production performed and produced by Tucson local community members as seen on Tucson's channel 13 new ("Tucsonan helps those dealing with PTSD:) and Tucsonsoul.com ("Black Theatre is alive and well in Tucson").
This event does not address or take any political stand but is written to encourage our nation to keep their head up. It's a story of hope and overcoming adversity. This play will by no means cure you of financial hardship or of PTSD but is meant to lift you and remind you that you are not alone. With faith and determination, you can overcome.
Military families are struggling all across the country, some of them because of PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). Examples of this disorder have spread rapidly across our nation with both in combat situations and after our American protectors returned home.
Case and point is found in any new media:
"Less than a year after returning from combat in Iraq, Nick Horner was charged with two murders."
"Robert Bales will be charged with seventeen counts of murder (NYT) today over an attack on Afghan civilians in southern Kandahar province..."
Garry L. Smith, a retired U.S. Air Force veteran, was inspired by life to write, direct and produce this theatrical production. Life lessons he learned by watching, listening and living. These life lessons are what inspired him to team up with the local community to bring awareness to current issues that we are all going through, whether it's PTSD, unemployment or anything that poses as a never-ending road. We all need to reach deep within ourselves to find that faith, belief or whatever we have left, and nurture/hold on to it. After that self-awareness and nurturing, we can overcome.
This exciting event takes place on May 20, 2012 at the Arizona State Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (Berger Performing Art Center). It is located at 1200 West Speedway Blvd, Tucson, AZ, 85749.
Tickets are $8 General Admission
